Shed Fire in Wenatchee Claims Life of Dog

Fire crews from Chelan District 1 and Douglas District 2 responded to a structure fire on Methow St. Monday night around 9:20 p.m. Public Information Officer Kay McKellar says when they arrived, they found a small, shed-type building on fire though there were no occupants. “They did locate a dog kennel and they took it out of the building.

West Benton firefighters respond as car sets on fire along I-82

PHOTOS: West Benton firefighters shared intense images of a car fire that they responded to on Monday night. In a Facebook post, the department wrote that they responded to the fire on I-82 eastbound near milepost 89. The vehicle was a total loss, but thankfully they say there were no injuries. West Benton Fire Rescue tells KAPP-KVEW the exact cause of the fire is unknown.

Three Skagit County fire districts asking voters to increase levies

Three Skagit County fire districts are asking voters in the Nov. 5 general election for permission to raise their levy lids, allowing them to collect more money for services. Fire District 8, which surrounds Sedro-Woolley and extends to Hamilton, is asking voters for permission to raise its tax levy lid from 97 cents to $1.

Washington Department of Ecology will collect and incinerate toxic firefighting foam

The Washington Department of Ecology announced Monday it will begin collecting and incinerating stockpiles of a toxic fire retardant foam that was used by fire departments for decades before the state restricted its use in 2018. The same type of foam was long used at Fairchild Air Force Base and blamed for contaminating West Plains water supplies, including the city of Airway Heights' tap system.

Live video option lets North Carolina county 911 see your emergency

VIDEO: The ABC11 I-Team obtained videos that are the first examples of what Person County officials call their "game-changing" technology for 911 callers. The videos are from live calls and were recorded at Person County Emergency Management's offices in Roxboro. "This is wonderful. This makes 911 dispatchers the true first responder," Brett Wrenn, Person County Emergency Communications Manager, told ABC11.
