Kentucky high school first in U.S. to offer CPAT to next generation of firefighters

Fairdale High School in Fairdale, KY is making waves by training the next cohort of fire fighters and EMTs. During a recent ceremony held at the school, Dan Shirley, an instructor at the school’s Fire and EMS Academy, announced the acquisition of the school’s new Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) license allowing students to undergo testing before graduation.

Walla Walla County Fire District #4 considers first levy lid lift in 40 years as calls continue to increase

Walla Walla County Fire District #4 want to put the first levy lid lift in 40 years on the August 6th election ballot and the community is invited to listen in. Board of Fire Commissioners are scheduled to discuss the levy on March 13, 2024, to deliberate on a resolution. The meeting will be at 4 p.

Family evacuated from fire in Bellevue house

Firefighters evacuated a home in Bellevue after a fire broke out on Thursday. Officials first reported the fire just after 5:00 p.m., on 199th Ave SE south of I-405, near the Newport neighborhood. The Bellevue Fire Department confirmed that everyone in the home managed to get out. Officials say an adult was transported to a local trauma center for treatment of smoke inhalation.

No injuries after truck fire inside Kitsap County beverage distributor

A fire at a warehouse along Highway 303 in East Bremerton drew several Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue trucks to a small commercial area on Wednesday afternoon. CKFR firefighters arrived just before 4 p.m. to a 10,000-square-foot building, used as a Northwest Beverage distribution center, where heavy smoke could be seen through the area.

VIDEO: 1 firefighter injured in Texas blaze, fire now under control

PHOTOS: One firefighter was injured after a three-alarm fire in south Austin that is now under control, the Austin Fire Department said. No civilians were injured. The blaze started Wednesday afternoon, and AFD said over 120 firefighters were working to extinguish the fire. At 2:20 p.m., AFD said crews responded to the three-story building with a “defensive” fire in the 2900 block of South Interstate 35 service road northbound, the agency said on social media.
