A beloved playground in Port Angeles was on fire early Wednesday morning and a young male was taken into custody on suspicion of arson, according to the Port Angeles Police Department.
At about 3:44 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers and firefighters responded to a fire at the Dream Playground at Erickson Park on Race Street in Port Angeles.

A fire at a trailer park in Spokane Valley displaced three people and one dog Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters with the Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to reports of smoke coming out of the windows of a unit at the Inland Village Mobile Home Park shortly before 1:30 p.m.
When they arrived at the house, firefighters helped rescue two people.

VIDEO: A local 8-year-old is getting recognition from first responders after saving his mom's life and protecting his little sister.
Leonel Bermudez met with the Spokane Valley Fire Department this week where he received a life-saving award for his heroic actions.
This year, Leonel's mom, Monica, had a seizure in the kitchen.

A house exploded early Tuesday morning in a West Park neighborhood, reducing it to rubble.
It happened in the 5200 block of Southwest 20th Street, just south of Pembroke Road.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue received word of the blast around 12:30 a.m.
When firefighters arrived there was no fire, but there was debris all over the place.

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Springfield City Council wasted little time in unanimously approving a set of four bills that joins the city with a statewide pool of funding that provides benefits for firefighters who get any of the 17 different types of cancer the program covers.
Known as the Missouri Fire Fighters Critical Illness Trust and Pool, the program was established by a pair of Senate Bills in 2021 and 2022 led by local State Senator Lincoln Hough.
