A fast-moving fire displaced a family of four Monday evening, with firefighters evacuating one person. No one was injured.
Snohomish County Fire District 7 responded at 6:02 p.m. to a report of a house fire, with someone trapped inside, in the 17700 block of 30th Drive SE, south of Mill Creek.
“When crews arrived on scene they found a fast moving fire extending throughout the back of the home,” District 7 said in a news release.

Pete Brummel, a 28-year fire service veteran, has been named assistant chief for East Jefferson Fire-Rescue.
Brummel replaces Deputy Chief of Training and Operations Ted Krysinski, who is retiring in a few months. Krysinski will continue with the department for another year, working on such legacy projects as the training tower that he will see through to completion.

The Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association sought a court order Tuesday aiming to force the city to pay firefighters the same as police officers of corresponding rank and seniority, one day before Mayor Sylvester Turner and the union are set to discuss ideas for implementing pay raises.
The move comes more than two months after voters approved Proposition B, a November ballot measure granting pay parity to Houston firefighters, which would amount to a massive raise that Turner says the city cannot afford.

Paid or unpaid, that is the question.
Beaver County officials are considering whether to pay firefighters who are given excused absences for responding to emergency calls under a proposed policy. After a September pipeline explosion in Center Township, Commissioners Chairman Daniel Camp requested the county develop a policy that would allow volunteer firefighters who work for the county to take unpaid time off without penalty if they respond to an emergency prior to their shifts.
