Walton County (GA) Fire Apparatus Crash Injures Two Firefighters

 
 

The rollover crash involving Walton County Fire Rescue Engine 12 occurred about 8:25 a.m. on Hawkins Academy Road, according to the department.  

Driver Artis Johnson, 50, and firefighter Michael Murray, 21, were taken to Piedmont Walton Hospital in Monroe with moderate injuries, treated and released, the department said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, which is investigating the crash, the fire truck was turning left “when the passenger side tires left the roadway. The driver overcorrected, crossing the center line.”

Chula Vista (CA) Fire Apparatus Crashes, Injuring Captain

 
 
 

A Chula Vista Fire Captain in that rig sustained injuries but is expected to be okay. Lowery said the crashes are good reminders to everyone, with more rain expected this week, to take it slow and easy when you get behind the wheel.  

“The rest of the firefighters did not sustain any physical injuries but as you can imagine the entire crew is certainly shook up,” Lowery said.

Washington Senators amonge Dems pressing Trump to end shutdown so wildfire preparations, training can begin again

Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, of Washington state, said the federal government shutdown “puts peoples’ lives at risk” by delaying forest restoration and wildland firefighter training programs, in a joint letter with 10 other Democratic senators sent to President Donald Trump on Monday. The senators pressed him to reopen the government, which has been partially shut down for weeks, as President Trump and Democrats remain at an impasse over funding for his border wall and security proposal.
