Arbitrator upholds firing Florida fire medic in motorcycle gang

A federal arbitrator says Hillsborough County was justified in firing a Fire Rescue medic who belonged to the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, noting the negative attention his membership brought the county. Clinton Neal Walker, 35, of Bradenton, was fired a year ago after an internal investigation concluded he had “unwavering loyalty” to the Outlaws, long considered the state’s dominant motorcycle gang.

Alabama city council mulls making Montgomery police and fire highest paid officers in state

With last year’s pay raises in effect, City Council members now want to know what it would take to make Montgomery’s public safety officers the highest paid in the state. For years, retention troubles have plagued the Montgomery Police Department and Montgomery Fire/Rescue. Despite high marks from outside groups on their performance, police lost around 60 officers last year, while firefighters had about 30 leave.

Psychiatric Patient Steals Michigan Ambulance, Crashes Into Police

 
 
Reports say Gunnar Theodore Ahlson was a psychiatric patient being transported from McLaren Hospital in Mount Clemens to Auburn Hills. He reportedly overpowered two Medstar employees and stole the ambulance, heading westbound on Hall Road and then northbound on Schoenherr where he crashed into two Macomb County Sheriff patrol cars, police said.

Rural Metro (TN) Opens New Fire Station

 
 
 

Rural Metro Fire Chief Jerry Harnish said the growing community in North Knoxville created the need for an additional station.  

"The need to have Station 36 here has been driven by the growth in the community. A quick look at the maps shows as long as the call was along Emory Road, it's a fairly easy prospect to get here from the Halls station or the Powell station. The problem has been the growth has been so phenomenal, those engines are now so busy," Chief Harnish said.
