Food truck owners at odds with Renton Regional Fire Authority over fire safety bill in state Legislature

Food trucks are asking Renton Regional Fire Authority to support a bill that would turn fire permits to just one per year, instead of per city. Not all cities currently charge a fee or do independent truck inspections. Seattle, SeaTac and Renton are among those who do, and food truck owners believe other cities will soon get on board.

Fire causes $100,000 damage to Yakima home, displaces two people

Two people were displaced after a fire severely damaged their South Eighth Avenue home Wednesday night, Yakima firefighters said. Firefighters were called to 1602 S. Eighth Ave. around 7:30 p.m. Arriving crews found that the home’s two occupants got out of the house, and said there was no one else inside, according to a fire department news release.
