Seattle Fire Department crews responded to a vacant commercial building fire in the 4200 block of Rainier Ave South Tuesday night. SFD first posted about the fire around 6:30 p.m. The fire was then upgraded to a 2-alarm fire. SFD said the front side of the building collapsed. SFD also reported that one firefighter was injured and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

VIDEO: Authorities in Burien say an early morning fire beneath a State Department of Corrections building was intentionally set. The fire broke out around 6:48 Tuesday morning at the DOC Community Field Office on 8th Avenue Southwest near “Old Burien.” Flames quickly raced through three state-owned vehicles in the parking lot.

The way we are thinking about public safety in our communities is changing, and this is certainly true in Renton. During the pandemic, we saw our social systems tested and stressed as hospitals and clinics went understaffed and overloaded with patients. Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a fire broke out overnight at a construction site in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of South Los Angeles. The fire at a multi-family residential building construction site was first reported just before 3:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of East Vernon Street.
