Houston firefighters pitch tent, wait for tow after fire truck breaks down

Channel 2 Investigates has learned a rotating group of Houston firefighters equipped with a tent, waited with a broken HFD fire truck for about 11 hours. The rotating crews were on-duty but unavailable to respond to emergency calls during the overnight event in Kingwood. "Nobody gave them direction as to checking on them, where do they go, there was no water, no restrooms out there, and no one gave them direction," Patrick Lancton, president of the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association, said.

Washington National Guard using wartime technology to help fight wildfires across PNW

The Washington Air National Guard was busy Monday mapping out the McCleod wildfire in Okanogan County. Off-duty Klickitat County firefighter warns family of garage fire

An off-duty Klickitat County firefighter alerted an Outlook family about a fire in their garage Sunday night, according to Yakima County firefighters. Yakima County Fire District 5 crews were called shortly after 9 p.m. for a fire at 2730 Outlook Road. A Klickitat County firefighter in the area helped the people in the house next to the garage get out safely, according to a fire district news release.

Collision Takes South Hutchinson (KS) Fire Apparatus Out of Service

According to South Hutchinson Police Chief Mark Thompson, Engine 80 was responding to a fire alarm at 600 W. Blanchard with lights and siren about 8:50 a.m.  

The truck stopped at the stoplight at Blanchard and Main before proceeding across the intersection against the light.

A Hutchinson motorist, Juan Flores, 33, who was northbound on Main Street, told officers he saw the truck and attempted to stop, but his Chevy Tahoe slid into the driver’s side door of the firetruck because of the wet pavement.
