Belpre (OH) Fire Station's Solar Panels Approved

Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz said the projections are to offset the energy needs of the station and to return a bit more to the grid.  

"It will be a savings to us by about 10 percent," Lorentz said. "And yes they will actually generate enough to have them sell some back to the grid, to AEP."

Gainesville Fire-Rescue (TX) Celebrates New Fire Apparatus

In January, Gainesville City Council members approved the lease-purchase of the 75-foot aerial ladder truck for a total cost of $724,383.

West Allis (WI) Fire Department Wants to Buy Back Fire Apparatus from 1930

 
 

Now the department is undertaking a fundraising effort to purchase its former engine with the hopes of using it for education, public relations and teaching students and residents about West Allis and fire service history. The 1930 truck was one of two purchased by the fire department at that time and served as Engine No. 3. The rig served the city for 42 years, from 1930 until 1972.

Arlington Fire medic units now equipped with grant-funded power cots

The techniques used by paramedics and firefighters to transport patients at the scenes of accidents and emergencies save lives, but all that lifting can also wreak havoc on their backs. Arlington Fire Department last month retrofitted three medic units and an aid car with battery-powered hydraulic patient lifting and lowering systems that will improve patient transfer, while reducing back strain.
