Fire danger continues to increase in central Washington as triple-digit temperatures are forecasted for next week.
Eleven counties are now listed as very high or extreme wildfire danger, according to the state Department of Natural Resources. Those counties include Grant, Adams, Douglas, Okanogan, Chelan, Kittitas, Yakima, Klickitat, Benton, Franklin and Whitman.

The city of Spokane will discipline five firefighters after concluding its investigation into allegations of harassment and bullying at Spokane Fire Department Station 2.
In a joint statement released Tuesday, the firefighters union and city officials said they were “committed to a workplace free from harassment, discrimination, or retaliation of any kind” and they “firmly believe in treating everyone with dignity, respect, and professionalism.

Spokane firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on E. Glass Ave. and N. Nevada St. around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Firefighters on scene say the fire started in the back of a vacant house and spread. No one was inside the home at the time.
Responding crews had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes of their arrival, but flames flared up again while crews were still on scene.

The Spokane Fire Department announced Tuesday that Rex Strickland III has been selected as the department's new deputy fire chief.
Chief Strickland will be the training chief, overseeing both recruit and incumbent training, health and safety, and recruitment. He will begin on Monday, July 30.
Chief Strickland has been working in fire service for 29 years, beginning in 1992.
