Deer Park High School Serves as Practice Fire Camp

When a wildfire ignites and firefighters are called to put it out, they not only bring the equipment they need to battle the fire. They also bring a whole logistical system to take care of their personal needs. Sometimes on the big fires, that support system becomes quite an operation. You can get a sense of what that looks like this week at Deer Park High School, north of Spokane.

Firefighters respond to fully involved house fire near Port Angeles

PHOTOS - Fire crews responded to a fully involved, two-story structure fire near the end of Lake Farm Road on Tuesday. All of the occupants had evacuated the house at 131 Pristine Lane, Clallam County Fire District No. 3 Chief Ben Andrews said. The house east of Port Angeles was fully involved in flames when crews arrived Tuesday afternoon, Andrews said.

Fire Burns Lewis County Garage, Vehicles

A detached garage was destroyed by a fire Tuesday afternoon on Teague Road outside Centralia, according to the Riverside Fire Authority. A number of vehicles and the contents of the garage, including tools, were completely destroyed. The fire was reported at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Teague Road, Assistant Chief Rick Mack told The Chronicle.

Thousands of chickens die in Tenino poultry farm fire

Thousands of chickens were killed Monday evening in Thurston County after a chicken house caught fire at Draper Valley Farms near Tenino, a spokesman for the Mount Vernon-based company said Tuesday. Thurston County Fire District 12 and other fire department crews were dispatched about 5:15 p.m. Monday to the farm in the 16000 block of Gibson Road Southwest.

Fire damages mobile home at Thunderbird Village in Tumwater

A ceiling fan was thought to have triggered a fire that damaged a mobile home Monday afternoon at Thunderbird Village, a senior retirement community in Tumwater. No one was injured, although the fire displaced two residents who are now staying with family, Tumwater Fire Chief Scott LaVielle said Tuesday.
