Soap Lake wildfire forces evacuations, scorches 2,000 acres

Authorities have some central Washington residents evacuating their homes because of a wildfire. Grant County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kyle Foreman says the blaze started Monday afternoon in the Soap Lake area along State Route 17. Foreman says wind carried the fire up over a cliff and toward some homes on the east side of State Route 17 North from milepost 81 south to Soap Lake.

Raging 3-alarm condo fire displaces 90 residents in Redmond

Fire crews from around the east side battled a three-alarm fire late Monday night and into Tuesday morning at a condominium complex in Redmond. The fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Monday, and heavy smoke and flames were seen shooting from the roof of the Toketi Lakeshore Condominiums on West Lake Sammamish Parkway.

Renovated Cape Cod (MA) Fire Station Is Now Open

Deputy Fire Chief John J. Burke’s enthusiasm about the newly renovated and expanded station was unrestrained while he offered a tour of the building to the Enterprise on Tuesday, June 5, in advance of the official open house, which will happen in the next month or so.

Repeatedly, Deputy Chief Burke pointed out what he considered the simple, cost-effective, and efficient design of the renovated original building and the addition that houses three bunk rooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry and medical supply room.

He pointed to the “all-in-one” generator, the new sprinkler system, the double-walled “tight tank” septic system and the high-quality/high-efficiency kitchen appliances installed in the original kitchen, whose “footprint” was not changed from the original.
