Pasadena (CA) Fire Department Adopts Renewable Diesel

The department currently operates one truck, four engines and four rescue ambulances on renewable diesel and plans to transition all remaining apparatus by 2019.  

Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a low-carbon fuel produced from 100% renewable and sustainable raw materials. It cuts greenhouse-gas emissions by up to 80% and significantly reduces engine-out emissions, all while enhancing fleet performance, the company says. Unlike biodiesel, Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a drop-in fuel that requires no blending, and it is compatible with all diesel engines.

Cherokee Nation Donate $500K to Oklahoma Fire Departments

Each year, volunteer fire departments rely on fundraisers, membership dues and the help of good Samaritans to maintain their operations.  

To honor them, Cherokee Nation provided each department with a check for $3,500, totaling $458,500, to help with equipment, fuel or other items needed to protect lives and properties of families in northeastern Oklahoma.

New Kirksville (MO) Fire Apparatus Arrives

The Kirksville Fire Department showed off its new fire truck prior to Monday’s City Council meeting.  

According to the department, the truck arrived last Tuesday. The department is currently placing its equipment on the truck and its expected to be in service later this week.

Court docs: Spokane woman who tried to burn down apartment thought her mail was being stolen

A Spokane woman was arrested for arson Monday after police and firefighters responded to a call of a fire at an apartment at Bernard and Sprague in downtown Spokane. Witnesses say she was seen in her room sitting next to a burning pile of clothes and doing nothing to put the flames out. She told one witness she was going to “burn this whole place down,” according to court documents.
