Kennewick fire crews put out early morning garage and boat fire

A Kennewick family is now safe, after firefighters put out garage fire early this morning. The fire broke out at about 5:20 A.M. at a home on the 700 block of S. Jefferson St. near 10th Ave. A neighbor saw the smoke, and ran over to alert the family inside. The fire was contained before it could reach the inside of the home at around 6:10 A.

Attic exhaust fan sparks Liberty Lake house fire

Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) and Spokane County Fire District 8 units responded to a house fire in the 300 block of N. Molter Road shortly after 2:30 pm Thursday afternoon. One of the two residents was outside in the yard, smelled smoke and noticed smoke coming from the roof vents of the home.

Update: Man who died in house fire west of Cheney related to property owner

A man who died in a house fire west of Cheney earlier this week was the brother of the property’s owner. Ralph Pickel, 68, was found Tuesday morning in the charred remains of a home at 16909 S. Graham Road, about 1 mile east of the Salnave Road exit on Interstate 90. His brother Timothy Pickel, who died in 2011, according to an obituary, is still listed as the owner of the 20-acre plot, according to records from the County Assessor’s Office.
