Gulfport Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt head-butted another firefighter during an alleged fight, according to an incident report filed with the Gulfport police department.
It happened at 11 a.m. April 6 at the Central Fire Station. “The suspect (Beyerstedt) became enraged in front of the complainant and the witness, cursing and lunging at the complainant causing the suspect’s head to come in contact with the complainant,” according to the report.

A relative of the Yorkville woman and child killed in a fire earlier this year is taking legal action, claiming the village fire department did not do enough to save their lives.
Heather Mishlanie and her 6-year-old daughter Taylor were killed after the Jan. 18 fire ravaged their upstairs apartment at 95 Campbell Ave.

A former Lynchburg Fire Department deputy chief was sentenced to a year and six months behind bars Tuesday after he was convicted of embezzling more than $70,000 in unauthorized purchases from a city-issued credit card and a nonprofit.
Jason Dale Campbell, 42, of Powhatan, pleaded guilty in Lynchburg Circuit Court to two felony counts of embezzlement by a government official and two felony counts of embezzlement.

A large waterfront home was destroyed by a two-alarm fire Wednesday morning near Gig Harbor, emergency officials said.
Firefighters rushed to the scene, in the 7700 block of Olympic View Drive NW, at about 3:45 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames billowing from the 5,000-square-foot home.

Before starting medical school at Washington State University, Carly Celebrezze helped with outreach for Columbia Valley Community Health in Wenatchee.
During the summer, clinic staff visited migrant labor camps around the region to provide mental health care, checkups and dentistry services. In the winter, they’d do similar outreach among homeless people.
