HME Delivers Ahrens-Fox Rescue-Pumper to St. Johnsville (NY)

The Village of St. Johnsville (NY) Fire Department has taken delivery of an all-new HME, Ahrens-Fox rescue-pumper. The MFDxl-12 allows for extended head room inside of the cab as well as a medical storage compartment. The pumphouse is home to a Hale Qmax rated at 1,500 gpm and fed by a 900-gallon L-Tank by UPF. The body features a hydraulic Ziamatic Single Pivot Ladder storage system, making room for 170 cubic feet of hosebed storage as well as 200 cubic feet of compartment storage. The rescue-pumper is powered by a 450-hp Cummins ISL9 engine and Allison 3000EVS automatic transmission.

Ohio mayor ends illegal overtime reporting in police, fire departments

Prompted by a federal investigation, the mayor of Akron has put an end to the illegal, off-the-books tracking of overtime in the city’s police and fire departments. For more than 30 years, countless overtime hours — presumably tens of thousands — were often never recorded through the city’s formal payroll process, making it impossible for federal officials to get a true accounting of whether employees were being properly compensated.

Baltimore to use $4 million in excess speed camera revenue to cover Fire Department overtime

Baltimore’s revived speed camera system is generating millions more in revenue than what was planned — and city officials now intend to use that money to balance the Fire Department’s budget. The Board of Estimates, which is controlled by Mayor Catherine Pugh, is slated to vote Wednesday to use an extra $4 million generated by speed camera fines — on top of the $8 million in budgeted revenue from them — to help pay unfunded overtime expenses in the Fire Department.

New Hampshire governor to nominate fire chief for state fire marshal

Gov. Chris Sununu is expected to nominate Salem's fire Chief Paul Parisi to the role of state fire marshal on Tuesday. “Chief Parisi has had a long and distinguished career protecting the people of Salem, and I am excited to have him lead the team over at the Division of Fire Safety,” Sununu in a statement on June 5.
