Mobile (AL) Opens Fire Station

That was Councilman Fred Richardson, who had obvious reason to be delighted that the city's newest public safety facility was in his District 1. But Mayor Sandy Stimpson, Public Safety Director James Barber and Mobile Fire-Rescue Chief Mark Sealy said it was a big step forward for the city as a whole and a sign of things to come.  

Sealy said the four-bay, 12,000-square foot facility allowed the department to put more assets closer to I-65, a key to improving their ability to go wherever needed. Those assets include a ladder truck formerly stationed on Lafayette Street, and what had been the sole unit stationed at the Ashland Station on Old Shell Road.

New London (NC) VFD Greets New Fire Apparatus

New London Fire Chief Derrick Starnes gave multiple firsthand examples of the upgraded features on the truck. Previously, trucks consisted of radio systems, but not a more sophisticated phone system like this new one. The phone system will allow firefighters, as well as the fire station, faster ways of contact, something that is vital when time is a precious commodity, he said.

Spokane County Fire District 4 moving to new Station 41 in Deer Park in mid-June

The doors of the new Fire Station 41 in Deer Park are almost ready to swing open, a move that is anticipated by both Spokane County Fire District 4 and the community. The five-door drive-thru truck bay is cavernous enough to fit 10 engines inside, but it’s the community room and public space that local residents are eagerly awaiting.
