Train severs boys leg in Washougal

A 15-year-old boy’s leg was severed Wednesday evening when he was struck by a train in Washougal. Camas-Washougal Fire Department firefighter-paramedic Eric Bridges said officials weren’t sure what happened, but at some point while the boy was attempting to get from one side of the tracks near George Schmid Memorial Park to another, he was hurt.

Future wildland firefighters experience hands-on training with fire

The Commissioner of Public Lands is expecting another big fire season ahead of us. With that said, it's good to know hundreds of firefighters are training for wildfires already. More than 400 firefighters are participating in the 10-day training Central Washington Inter-agency Fire Training Academy offers.

Mount Prospect (IL) Buys Building for New Fire Station

The building will be remodeled and replace the current fire station and headquarters at 112 E. Northwest Highway.  

The village now has a 60-day due diligence period to review the property's environmental suitability and structural condition.  

"We have the opportunity to secure a property that we believe has great strategic value to our emergency response mission for the fire department," Village Manager Michael Cassady said. "Given that we were looking to relocate our police headquarters, we didn't feel like we should just ignore fire."
