Update: Marysville Man dies after neighbors rescue him from mobile home fire

Authorities say an 88-year-old man died from injuries suffered in a mobile home fire in Marysville. Marysville Fire District officials say neighbors called 911 Wednesday morning to report smoke coming from a home in the Crystal Tree Village mobile home park. Authorities say several neighbors helped rescue the 88-year-old man inside.

Chelan's Fire and Rescue's Adam Jones to be honored as Washington State Firefighter of the Year

Washington State Firefighter of the Year award has been announced to go to Chelan Fire and Rescue’s Adam Jones. This award is presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars with their annual Safety Awards. Jones received nomination for this award through his colleagues saying, “the bloke is an animal.” His hands-on approach, dependability and respectful demeanor adds to his knowledge from fish and wildlife to emergency medical training.

NE Washington Firefighters Learn About The Virtues of Bear Spray

As people prepare to spend time in the woods this spring and summer, wildlife officials are warning them to be prepared for encounters with animals, in particular, bears. Firefighters in one northeastern Washington county received a lesson this week on the virtues of bear spray. You’re more likely to run into a black bear than a grizzly bear in Washington, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for either, says Candace Bennett, a wildlife conflict specialist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in Colville.

Proposition 1 requests tax hike to maintain fire staffing in Lake Chelan

In less than a week, voters in the Lake Chelan area decide whether to continue staffing levels by passing Proposition 1. Steve Saugen, a fire fighter with Fire District #7 is one of 6 firefighters hired with grant funding levels that would be maintained if voters approve the levy Saugen says passage is vital to maintaining vital staffing levels for a growing community Property owners in Fire District #7 are currently taxed at 92 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.
