Florida charity accused of exploiting fallen firefighters, fire victims

A Pompano Beach charity that collected more than $43 million for breast cancer research, families of fallen firefighters and fire victims, kept most of the money, authorities say. Person killed in Federal Way apartment fire

One person died in a fire at a Federal Way apartment complex late Tuesday night. Firefighters were called out to the blaze in the 32300 block of Fourth Place South shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a fire investigator with South King Fire & Rescue. The identity of the victim who died in the fire that destroyed four units has not been released.

Ridgeland (SC) Breaks Ground on Fire Station Expansion

Ridgeland Mayor Joey Malphrus was joined by several members of the Ridgeland Town Council, including Josephine Boyles, Chris DuBose and Grady Woods to break ground for the new addition. He was joined by Town Administrator Dennis Averkin, Town of Ridgeland Fire Department Fire Chief Bradley Bonds and members of the Ridgeland Fire Department including Henry Criss, Chad Atwood and George Wynn.  

“This is a project we have been working on for years, and I’m finally glad to see it coming together,” Malphrus said. “We are very excited about the building.”
