Warner Robins Fire Dept. spending $1.2 million on new training center

The department is spending $1.2 million in 2012 and 2018 SPLOST funds for a new three-story tower that will have simulated residential floors, indoor and outdoor staircases, and a simulated elevator shaft.

It also will have more than ten times the space dedicated to burn exercises, all for better training that Moulton says could save lives.

Richland firefighters handing out free food to community

Firefighters in Richland are helping those who need some extra food on the table. Richland Fire & Emergency Services is joining 2nd Harvest Friday, April 6, at the Uptown Parking Lot to hand out free produce and nonperishable products to the community. The firefighter's Community Outreach Program partnered with 2nd Harvest to organize the mobile market, which includes nearly 8,500 pounds of food items.

City Commission OKs alerting system contract for fire department

In addition to providing for the emergency radio speakers and amplifier for Station No. 2, he said this system will provide a commercial station alerting system that will allow Station No. 2 to receive redundant emergency traffic from COS Dispatch over both 800 MHz emergency radio system and IP infrastructure providing redundancy in the event that one of these systems fail.

Follow Up: Welding is possible cause of shed fire in Kennewick

Benton County Deputies say welding could be a factor in a structure fire on the 900 block of east 23rd Avenue in Kennewick. When Benton County Fire District 1 and the Kennewick Fire Department arrived to the scene around 5 p.m. they heard gas cans and paint cans popping. The street was blocked off for over an hour as police and fire engines filled the street in front of the home.
