McAllen (TX) Donates Fire Apparatus to Reynosa

McAllen gifted the surplus firetruck and equipment to the State of Tamaulipas Civil Protection Regional Center in Reynosa. The truck seats six and can carry 500 gallons of water and is capable of pumping 1,500 gallons a minute at full capacity. Valued at $15,000, the truck has logged 111,717 miles for the city.  

Darling said this is the second firetruck exchange he can remember during his four-and-a-half years in office. The exchange is part of an interlocal agreement the two governments approved.

Howard County EMA (IN) Replace Aging Fire Apparatus

"The 1988 Grumman was a former Snap-On Tools truck that was converted by some of our EMA members in 2009 for fire service," said EMA Director Janice Hart, in the press release. "The 2003 Ford was built specifically as a fire truck by Central States Fire Apparatus of Lyons, South Dakota."

The Ford truck was purchased new by the East Alton Illinois Fire Department, and recently became available when their agency purchased a new truck.

In October, the Howard County Commissioners and the Howard County Council authorized the purchase of a replacement vehicle at a cost of up to $52,000.

Murphy Reynolds covers 330 square miles, making it the second largest district in Idaho. The district was established in 1985 by four people trying to keep citizens and surrounding wildland safe in a rural desert area.

Fire Officials Give Update On Fleet'S Status

Fire Chief William Lauber and Captain John Vance updated the Town Council on the state of the town’s fleet for the first time in almost a decade last week.

The department recommends replacing engines every 20 years, tankers and rescuers every 30 years and utility and EMS vehicles every 15 years. The schedule is a bit longer than the National Fire Protection Association’s recommendation to replace fire apparatus every 15 years and EMS vehicles every five to seven years.

New fire station project in northeast Johnson County breaks ground

Consolidated Fire District No. 2 broke ground Dec. 7 on the new 13,000-square-foot building, which will replace the station at 9011 Roe Avenue, also in Prairie Village.

The $6.5 million project is being financed through general-obligation bonds, according to Fire Chief Tony Lopez. The district bought the land from the Mission Road Bible Church, which was not using a back parking lot. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
