Montana Sends Fire Apparatus to California to Help Fight Wildfires

"We had numerous significant fires. Obviously the fires that burned in Napa are going and now these fires in Los Angeles," says Red Lodge Fire Chief Tom Kuntz. "Overall this is going to shape up to be one of the worst fire seasons in U.S. history."  

 While firefighting poses many dangers, he ensures that his team is properly equipped and highly trained.

"Now in Montana we have a significant threat from wild land fires and we're fortunate to have a response system of both volunteer and career firefighters who are very well trained in working in the wild land interface which is when the fires are moving into homes," Kuntz adds.

Charlotte (NC) to Install Security Systems at Every Fire Station

Monday, the Charlotte City Council voted to purchase and install security systems at every fire department in Charlotte. 

RELATED: Fort Mill fire station latest in string of break-ins

Locations will be monitored by CMPD’s Real Time Crime Center and CFD. Cameras were first installed two years ago when the city got wind of vehicle break-ins.

Elderly Woman Crashes Through Rockaway (NY) Fire Station Wall

Police and fire fighters crowded the scene following the accident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m. at the corner of East New and East Main streets,  

Police Chief Conrad Pepperman, at the scene, said the woman did not appear to be seriously injured from the head-on crash, which opened a gaping hole in the yellow-brick wall of the fire house.

Seaside (OR) to Get Fire Apparatus

The ladder will reach 100 feet — 25 feet more than the fire department’s 75-foot ladder truck — to meet the needs of Seaside’s tallest buildings, Fire Chief Joey Daniels said at Monday night’s City Council meeting.  

The tractor-drawn aerial, known as the tiller, will offer navigability down the city’s narrow one-way streets.

Snohomish County: Paine Field fire chief will be allowed to retire

The Paine Field fire chief who is accused of abusing county surplus rules will be allowed to retire as planned. However, it won’t be in good standing, according to a letter from Snohomish County’s Airport Director Arif Ghouse. He wrote the chief, Jeff Bohnet, a response Friday to Bohnet’s resignation letter.
