2-alarm fire burns business, home in Snohomish County

Fire crews responded to a two-alarm fire burning multiple buildings near Everett early Monday morning. The fire broke out at about 3:15 a.m. south of Everett along Highway 99, just north of the Mukilteo Speedway. Early reports were that the fire was at a tire store there, but as crews arrived, they realized the area behind the business and a home were also on fire, according to Leslie Hynes with Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Spokane firefighters rescue dog from burning motor home

The Spokane Fire Department rescued a dog Sunday night that was trapped inside a motor home that caught fire. It happened on the 2000 block of West 15th Avenue in Spokane just before 7 P.M. SFD Battalion Chief Bruce Moline said crews arrived to find a motor home on fire and a dog trapped inside. Most of the fire was kept to the bottom part of the trailer, according to Moline.

Former Phoenix Fire Chief, Alan Brunacini, dies

Former Phoenix Fire Chief, Alan Brunacini, has died Sunday. Brunacini, who served as fire chief for 28 years, joined the Phoenix Fire Department in 1959. Prior to becoming fire chief in 1978, Brunacini held every sworn position in the organization including a firefighter, engineer, captain, battalion chief, and assistant chief, Phoenix Fire Chief Kara Kalkbrenner said in a Sunday statement.

South Dakota Fire Chief Killed Battling Structure Fire

State officials say a Presho volunteer firefighter died of a medical condition at the scene of a weekend fire. According to the South Dakota Fire Marshal's Office, 54-year-old Donald Manger died Saturday while working at a structure fire in rural Lyman County. Authorities say Manger experienced a medical condition, then collapsed to the ground.

An army of firefighters brave deadly, epic California firestorm

Santa Rosa firefighter Brandon Palmer has fought big blazes in his 20 years on the job, but the 81-hour shift he spent fighting the fire storm in his own neighborhood last week was still stunning. "It's crazy to watch your hometown be annihilated by fire," he said, back at his Santa Rosa firehouse. "It just takes your breath away.
