Durant (OK) Firefighters Acquire New Fire Truck

The Durant Fire Department this new Sutphen pumper truck that will replace a 1998-model truck that will be kept for backup. Funding for the new truck was from the county's fire sales tax that benefits all fire departments in Bryan County. The fire department will be performing a ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
The Durant Democrat reported on new apparatus coming to the city of Durant, Oklahoma.

PA Fire Truck Blows Tire, Forcing Closure of Highway

WINDBER - No injuries were reported Thursday after a Windber firetruck blew a tire, forcing the road to be shut down, authorities said. The unit was returning from an incident at 5:47 when the tire blew out at Hayes Street and Route 56, forcing the road to be closed for about 2 1/2 hours, Somerset 911 said.
No firefighters were injured when a Windber (PA) fire apparatus blew a tire when it was returning from an incident on Thursday.

Driver Seriously Injured After Crashing into Fire Truck in Australia

A driver has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a fire truck already attending to another accident on the M1. Traffic was banking up in both directions at Rochedale South after the crash in the southbound lane, with the highway cut to one lane in that direction.
A driver crashed into the back of a fire apparatus that was staged to respond to a separate two-car crash on a highway in Queensland, Australia.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said the car was wedged under the back of the fire truck. The driver was extricated from beneath the apparatus, then transported in serious condition.

Winlock Fire District asks for Levy to hire more staff

Winlock residents can expect to see a request on the November ballot from Lewis County Fire District 15 for a maintenance and operations levy expected to collect $215,000 per year from 2018 through 2021. The levy is primarily intended to allow the district to hire an additional full-time firefighter to augment its weekday shifts, according to the district.

Fire forces Tacoma family from their home

An early morning fire forced at least eight people and two dogs from a Tacoma home on Thursday morning, according to the the Central Pierce Fire Department. The fire started in the basement of the home off of 68th Street and burned holes in the floor, said spokesman Brian Levings. Firefighters responded at 3:17 a.
