Dash Cam Video Shows Driver Hitting Fire Apparatus in Middletown (OH)

A Middletown fire truck was damaged when it collided with a pickup truck on University Boulevard and Central Avenue on Friday evening. Firefighters were responding to a suspected drug overdose at the nearby railroad tracks. Dash-camera video from the Middletown Fire Department shows a Chevy pickup hit engine 83 while it's making a left U-turn.
"In the process of making the turn, the second vehicle that was coming up from behind attempted to pass on the left side of the vehicle, which unfortunately struck our left front of our fire vehicle," Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Spaulding explained. "Motorists should pull over and stop to the right for all emergency vehicles."

Spaulding told WLWT that when he reviewed the video, he noticed the same Chevy did pull over and stop on the right after Middletown's ambulance and fire truck passed, but about 30 seconds later, it can see be seen approaching from behind, trying to pass on the left.

New Woodland fire station takes shape

Firefighters can easily see light passing through the cracks in the exterior of their old fire station. When it rains the roof drips water onto the floors, and if an earthquake ever hit, they aren’t sure if the tired building could withstand the rumbling. The old fire station at 100 Davidson Ave. hasn’t seen any major remodels or upgrades since it was built in the late 1970s.
