Sourdough Fire: SR 20 North Cascades Hwy reopens

State Route 20 North Cascades Highway reopened Wednesday after closing for several days due to the wildfire activity from the Sourdough Fire. The road was closed Friday night between milepost 120 in Newhalem and milepost 156 near Rainy Day Pass, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Washington Department of Natural Resources fighting fires faster with increased resources

If you have seen airplanes drop water at a wildfire this year, they're probably from Deer Park. Deer Park Fire Pilot Chris Hopman has fought fires in the air for six years. Unlike previous years, he has noticed his team is able to keep fires from growing to almost 10 times in size this season. "Instead of us catching fires that let's say 10 or 20 acres, you're looking at 10 to 20,000 acres on some of them, so with this initial rapid response, we're able to keep them much smaller," Hopman said.

Fleming Fire burns 7 acres south of Spokane

VIDEO: The Fleming fire is 100% lined and crews on scene said the fire will not exceed seven acres. Crews will be working overnight to prevent this fire from spreading. All air crew has been called off. Spokane County Fire District 2, Spokane County Fire District 8, Spokane County Fire District 11 and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are responding to this fire.

Car crashes into Kent home, no injuries reported

PHOTOS: Crews are working on stabilizing a Kent home after a vehicle crashed into the residence Tuesday morning. According to Puget Sound Fire (PSF), the incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on the 24000 block of 35th Place South. PSF tweeted photos from the scene showing the vehicle inside the damaged home.

Follow Up: Officials say winds 'dramatically' shifted, causing fatal fire at Lakewood mobile home park

Victims of the fast-moving brush fire at Jamestown Estates in Lakewood are continuing to pick up the pieces of their lives, little by little. The community came together Monday to offer clothing and other items to those that lost everything in Friday's devastating, fire that left two men dead and dozens of mobile homes burned.
