Strong winds, power lines spark small brush fire near Chelan

A small brush fire knocked out power to hundreds of customers near the city of Chelan, Monday night. According to Chelan County PUD, strong winds pushed some power lines together, sparking a 2-alarm fire. It's burning near the intersection of Highway 97A and Apple Acres Road. Lake Chelan fire officials said early Tuesday morning that the fire has been contained at about 72 acres.

Crews respond to small brush fire in Lincoln County

The Department of Natural Resources firefighters are responding to a brush fire in Lincoln County Monday evening. The fire is on SR 231 at milepost 36 near Reardan. Firefighters say the fire is about 40 acres as of 5 p.m. Monday, and that crews have a line around 50 percent of the fire. Stevens County Fire District 1 reports crews are making good progress and that the fire has slowed down Monday evening.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 hires executive coach to iron out differences

The elected commissioners at south Snohomish County’s largest and most political fire district have hired an executive coach to help them get along. They say the coach will prepare them as Fire District 1 pitches a merger to voters in the primary election this summer. Meeting records show they also thought the move would alleviate public relations problems from a race-related controversy in March.

Unofficial Results: Eggleston Elected IAFC 2nd VP

The unofficial results of the IAFC election have been returned and show that Chief Dan Eggleston, Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue (Va.), has received the majority of the IAFC members’ votes and will become the IAFC's second vice president in July at Fire-Rescue International (FRI) in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Video: Maine firefighter survives dramatic explosion

A volunteer firefighter suffered facial burns when a propane tank explosion engulfed him in flames last week. Limestone police Chief Stacey Mahan posted the dramatic video of the explosion, which was captured on his body camera, Sunday on social media. Firefighters went to a property on Main Street on Thursday afternoon, where a fire had broken out in a wooded area near propane tank Firefighter Scott Patten was trying to keep the blaze under control when one of the tanks exploded, sending flames shooting toward him.
