Car Crashes Into Water Control Device, Flooding Jupiter (FL) Fire Station

A fire station in Jupiter was flooded after a car lost control, crashed into a 4-inch water back flow control device and hit a tree early Thursday morning.
Officials say only one person was in the car at the time of the crash and that the car may have gone airborne after hitting the water control device. The crash also damaged the water line.

Island Creek (KY) VFD Upgrades Fire Apparatus

After many months of searching for a new fire truck, the Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department purchased a 1996 fire truck to replace an older model. On Wednesday afternoon, the fire truck was delivered from Georgia. Randy Courtney, Fire Chief at Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department, said this new truck has enhanced capabilities.

Greenfield (IN) Fire Apparatus to Serve Industrial Areas

Buck Creek firefighters are hitting the road with a new truck equipped to fight blazes in tall industrial businesses moving to the county's west side, thanks to a partnership between the department and the county's redevelopment commission.
Buck Creek Township leaders and members of the Hancock County Redevelopment Commission recently split the cost of a $250,000 new aerial ladder truck — a fire engine featuring a more than 100-foot ladder that can extend over the tops of tall buildings — that will be used to service the whole township, particularly the businesses located along the Mt. Comfort corridor.

Township officials approached the redevelopment commission for help, and the board eventually agreed to contribute $100,000 to the truck’s $250,000 cost, noting that a well-equipped fire service is part of what the county can offer industries considering Hancock County.

Aberdeen woman arrested after ex-roomie's stuff torched

A woman was arrested and booked into jail Wednesday after her ex-roommate's belongings were set on fire in a driveway. Police went to the 1000 block of West Cushing Street on Wednesday night to check out a report of someone burning a mattress in a driveway. Officers could see a plume of black smoke as they approached the address, police said.
