Federal Grant for Nyack Joint Fire District

NYACK, NY - Congresswoman Nita Lowey announced a federal grant award of $27,572 for the Nyack Joint Fire District through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. "It is essential that our first responders have the resources they need to react quickly and decisively to protect our communities," said Lowey in her announcement Thursday.

The Nyack Joint Fire District will use this funding to acquire personal protective equipment for its firefighters. The joint fire district maintains six fire stations housing eight fire apparatus, one marine unit, and the high angle rescue team, and serves the villages of Upper Grand View, South Nyack, Nyack and Upper Nyack.

Grant Allows Oxford Fire Department To Enhance Firefighter's Safety - HottyToddy.com

The Oxford Fire Department received notification from U.S. Senator Thad Cochran's (R-MS) on July 19, 2017 of a FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) award in the amount of $267,728 dollars for operations and safety funding to purchase replacement Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). This equipment provides respiratory protection for personnel during firefighting and hazardous materials ...

This equipment provides respiratory protection for personnel during firefighting and hazardous materials emergencies and will replace equipment that will no longer be OSHA or National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) compliant as of 2018.  AFG officials approved $294,500 for the project, however, the overall costs to replace the equipment is projected to be higher at $311,034.  In conjunction with a required local government match, the total net cost to the City should be $43,306.80.

West Warwick Gets $338K Federal Grant for New Fire Truck

On Friday, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Jim Langevin and David Cicilline announced $337,819 in federal funding to help the West Warwick Fire Department purchase a new fire truck to enhance the department's existing fleet. The competitive grant is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program.

Forks Township Eyes Possible Fire Tax to Pay for Fire Trucks

How should the township pay for fire department vehicles that could cost millions of dollars? That's the question plaguing Forks Township supervisors, who voted Thursday to buy a new $787,000 rescue-pumper truck. Township Finance Manager Jim Farley provided supervisors Thursday with a financial forecast that may mean cuts in township department budgets and increased taxes for township residents next year.

Fire Chief Bill Carver told supervisors that the department's rescue truck and ladder truck are either in need of serious repair or outright replacement. A new 150-foot ladder truck could cost significantly more than a rescue truck.


The ladder truck is currently out of service while being repaired and several functions on the rescue truck, like the foam and water pumps, do not work.

Next Stop for Antique Fire Truck? Home

Capt. Nicky Fullin and Lt. Darren Welch can't help but smile when they talk about retrieving a shiny red piece of Tisbury Fire Department history. A 1947 LaFrance pumper returned Wednesday night as the 6:45 M/V Nantucket ferry pulled into Vineyard Haven at 7:30 pm. to a waiting crowd.

The truck, purchased brand-new by military veterans in 1947, has been the apple of Tisbury’s eye for several years, and in a deal with the firefighters’ association at the Cotuit-Osterville-Marstons Mills (COMM) Fire Department, the homecoming was made possible.
