NYACK, NY - Congresswoman Nita Lowey announced a federal grant award of $27,572 for the Nyack Joint Fire District through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. "It is essential that our first responders have the resources they need to react quickly and decisively to protect our communities," said Lowey in her announcement Thursday.
The Nyack Joint Fire District will use this funding to acquire personal protective equipment for its firefighters. The joint fire district maintains six fire stations housing eight fire apparatus, one marine unit, and the high angle rescue team, and serves the villages of Upper Grand View, South Nyack, Nyack and Upper Nyack.
