Orange County Moves Forward With First of Three New Fire Stations

Officials have secured the location for the first of three new fire stations slated to open in Orange County by next February. Station 67 will be built in an already developed, rapidly expanding part of northeast Orlando, at University Boulevard and Lake Twylo.

The construction of  Station 67 is part of Orange County’s major capital investment project, called INVEST in Our Home for Life. The $300 million initiative pours $30 million into construction, training, and new fire rescue equipment for five years.


Two more will be built with the funds; one in northeast Orlando in Avalon Park and the other in southeast Orlando, off Goldenrod Road and Silver Pointe Boulevard.

New West Casper Fire Station Complete

The public is invited to an open house Thursday, June 29th.

The old station served West Casper for more than 30 years, and a number of years before that as a volunteer station.


Casper Fire-EMS says the new station represents a great leap forward in facilities and technology. The project was slated to cost 3.4 million dollars, to be paid for with Optional One Cent Funds.

3 displaced after fire damages Vancouver garage

Three people were displaced after a garage sustained significant damage in a fire Tuesday morning. Crews with the Vancouver Fire Department responded to the fire at a two-story house, 4805 N.E. 112th Circle, around 9:30 a.m., firefighter Darrin Deming said. Crews found flames coming from the two-bay garage and pulled a line to douse the fire, Deming said.

Lake Stevens donates surplus fire truck to Hat Island

One of Snohomish County’s rural, all-volunteer fire departments is getting a “new” engine with the help of some distant neighbors. A 1991 Darley Pumper truck is being prepared for its future home on Hat Island. The island is in Possession Sound between Everett and Whidbey Island. It has a small year-round population as well as a number of weekend and summer homes.

Firefighters work to rescue woman, horse after fall down hillside near Auburn

Multiple agencies were working late Monday to rescue a woman and the horse she was riding after the two fell about 25 feet down a hillside near Auburn, officials said. Valley Regional Fire tweeted that the incident happened in the 16800 block of Southeast 376th Street. Rescuers used a rope system to bring the woman up the hill, KOMO news reported.
