Grain Rescue Equipment Gifted to Spiceland (IN) Fire Department

Harvest Land has donated a grain rescue tube to the Spiceland Fire Department to fill a gap that could have left farmers in dangerous need.
The Harvest Land Risk management department determined that the equipment was needed in southern Henry and northern Rush counties to help keep their farmers and community safe. If a farmer was trapped in a grain bin or wagon, a grain rescue tube was more than 15 miles away. The donation went to the Spiceland Fire Department to fill that gap.

Harvest Land lost two customers due to grain entrapment in 2016. The company is committed to not only the safety of employees but to the safety of their farmer-members.

Asheville (NC) Fire Station to be Named After Fallen Firefighter

Plans are in the works to rename an Asheville fire station. Fire Station 9, on Fairview Road, would be renamed in honor of Grady Wilson, Sr. Wilson is one of seven firefighters with the City of Asheville who was killed in the line of duty.
Chief Burnette says this would be the fourth fire station named after a fallen firefighter in the city, and Wilson's family asked for this particular station.

"The family has a connection to the Oakley community," Burnette said. "They have a connection to that area and that firehouse. Since old Station 3 where he was working on that tragic day where he died was no longer available, they felt Station 9 would be a good place to honor Grady Wilson."

Pro Snowboarder Turned 1953 Fire Apparatus Into an Adventuremobile

As you might have noticed, #vanlife has become a full-blown social phenomenon, with many people turning vans and buses into mobile homes to set out for life on the road.
And while everyone has their own unique take on vanlife (this guy turned an ambulance into an adventuremobile), pro snowboarder Austin Smith has one of the more original approaches we’ve seen: He turned a 1953 GMC fire truck into his house on wheels.

"This is my fire truck, or 'micro dojo,'" Smith says in the video while describing his recent switch to living in the fire truck. "I've never lived in a vehicle before, I've never lived in a parking lot before, I wasn't sure if I would like it."
