Lifesaving equipment donated to Mountain View Fire & Rescue in memory of former volunteer firefighter

Andrea Manske dreamed of becoming a firefighter, a line of work she was passionate about, family members say. The daughter of a fire chief, Manske volunteered as a firefighter for Auburn-based Mountain View Fire & Rescue, Station 95. She was dedicated to succeeding in her professional life – her calling, her way to help others.

Firefighters burn down training house in Prosser

Normally, firefighters are the ones putting out fires. But, Saturday in Prosser, they were responsible for a pretty big one, and that fire was no accident. For the past few months, West Benton firefighters have been using a house on Florence Street for nighttime fire training. The house was donated by Joel Hughes, who bought it roughly a year ago in hopes of building new homes on the land.

Clark County Fire District 6 earns high bond rating

Clark County Fire District 6 earned an AA- bond rating as part of a recent review of its finances, something the district says will help when issuing bonds to pay for building a new fire station and improving others. The AA- rating, from S&P Global Ratings, is considered high quality, according to the district, and will mean lower interest costs for bonds.

Grant will buy Lacey Fire some much needed gear

Lacey firefighters will soon be sporting some new gear, thanks to a $21,600 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The grant will be used to purchase new bunker gear, the protective clothing firefighters wear when entering burning buildings, according to Lacey Fire District 3. Bunker gear is replaced at least every 10 years, or following damage and wear and tear.
