Car Hits Dallas Fire Truck Assisting At Crash Scene

Early Sunday, a Honda hit a Dallas fire truck on northbound Interstate 35E. Around 5:15 a.m. Sunday, a grey Honda struck Dallas Fire-Rescue Engine 47, which was blocking traffic while crews worked another accident. No major injuries were reported. Police are investigating.

The rig was positioned to block traffic when the crash occurred. there were no major injuries reported. The truck's crew was working at a separate accident.

Greenville Opens New Fire Station on Verdae Boulevard

The Greenville Fire Department opened the doors to its newest fire station Friday. Verdae Station 1 at 825 Verdae Blvd. unfolded its three bay doors to a round of applause from City Council members, firefighters and the public. The station has been operational since February.

During an open house, firefighters provided tours through the station, pointing out such features as its bunk rooms, work out area, and a state of the art kitchen. The station also has a police annex. Response times have been reduced by about three minutes, according to the department's chief. Staffing for the station is nine firefighters in each of three shifts.

Mayville Fire Department Responds to Own Fire Station for Fire

Saturday night at 10:07 PM the Mayville Fire Department responded to a fire inside their own fire station. A pedestrian called in the report of fire after seeing flames. According to the fire department, the fire was contained to one vehicle but there was heavy smoke all throughout the station.

Damage to the station was minimal, and only one apparatus housed there caught fire. No injries were reported, and there was no fire protection interruption for local residents.

DC Fire Station to Reopen After $9 Million Renovation

WASHINGTON (AP) - One of the busiest fire stations in downtown Washington is about to reopen. Mayor Muriel Bowser will be on hand Monday for the reopening of Engine Company 16 on 13th Street, Northwest. The station was built in 1932 and was Washington's first four-bay firehouse.

The renovated station is more energy-efficient and is one of the busiest downtown stations.
