A fast-acting paramedic dove into the frigid water of an Illinois lake where a SUV was submerged on Thursday and found an infant floating inside, then administered CPR on the hood and swam the child to shore, authorities said. The baby is expected to make a full recovery.
The infant was one of seven siblings who survived a tragic chain of events that left one person dead in a house fire and second body recovered from the lake where the baby was found.

When wildfires roared through Washington during the summer and fall of 2014 and 2015, they caught people’s attention, even Democratic state lawmakers from the Puget Sound area such as Rep. Larry Springer.
“We come back to Olympia after each of those years needing to spend tens of millions of dollars to reimburse those efforts to put those fires out," Springer said.

All four schools in the Orting School District are on a two-hour delay after fire crews in Pierce County responded to a roof fire at Orting High School Thursday morning. The first call came in shortly after 4:30 a.m. By 5:30 a.m. crews had the fire out. According to the school district's website, the fire started in a maintenance area above the boys locker room at the gymnasium.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) plans to conduct controlled burns this spring on parts of three wildlife areas in the northeast and southcentral areas of the state to reduce wildfire risks and enhance wildlife habitat.
Controlled burns could begin as early as late March on at least 300 acres of the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area in Okanogan County and 200 acres of the Sherman Creek Wildlife area in Ferry County, depending on weather conditions and approval from the state Department of Natural Resources.

Once again Richland firefighters finished strong this past weekend, climbing 69 flights of stairs in Seattle, all in the name of fighting cancer.
Out of 1,800 firefighters, Richland firefighter Andy Sabin came in 34th and Adam Hardgrove come in at 46th.
Every year, the Richland Fire Departent, along with others from around the world raise money to support Leukemia and the Lyphoma society.
