Oklahoma police arrest man accused of attacking firefighter at scene of house fire

Police arrested a man accused of attacking a firefighter with a flashlight while trying to enter a burning home where drugs were reportedly found Monday night. Officers received a call to assist the Tulsa Fire Department with a house fire in the 2500 block of North Kingston Avenue around 11:25 p.m. after a firefighter had been assaulted.

New Jersey fire chief's last shift after more than 30 years on the job

John Centanni has spent the better part of his life as a Newark firefighter. The 51-year-old fire chief rose through the ranks after joining the department in 1986, and has dedicated his life to ensuring the safety of Newark's residents. On Monday, Centanni worked his last shift before retirement. "You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger cheerleader of the Newark Fire Department," Raul Malave, the city's assistant public safety director, told dozens of friends, family and colleagues who'd gathered on Clifton Street Monday for Centanni's ceremonial sendoff.

Follow Up: Tacoma marina fire cause under investigation

In the light of the day after the fire, this is all that remains of the five boats that once occupied these slips at the Tyee Marina in Tacoma. One boat is underwater. Two are nearly submerged. And the two that are still floating are beyond repair. So once the fire was out, the concern shifted to the 100 gallons of fuel estimated to be on board the five boats.
