The Kennewick community is now rallying around one man after his house went up in flames Sunday morning. Just after 10:00 AM, firefighters responded to the large fire at a house on South Quincy Street. Firefighters tell us that the burn started in the kitchen, and quickly spread from there. Before long, it had engulfed the whole house, and was even powerful enough to melt parts of the neighbor's cars.

The Vancouver apartment fire that sent two people jumping for safety from the second story Saturday evening started on the outside of the building, and fire investigators are seeking tips to help them determine the cause of the blaze. The fire damaged two upstairs and two downstairs units of the Fort Vancouver Terrace Apartments, 4710 Plomondon St.

No one was injured in a shop fire north of Ellensburg at 1:30 a.m. today. Residents at 3013 U.S. Highway 97 woke up to the sounds of explosions when their shop caught fire 30 feet from their house, Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Rich Elliott said. The explosion is suspected to have come from ammunition igniting.

Two people died in an early morning house fire on Friday. Colville firefighters were called to a home at 158 Aladdin rd. around 5 a.m. Friday. A neighbor called in the fire and although crews arrived within minutes, the house was already engulfed in flames when they got there. “Life saving attempts were unsuccessful.
