Smart Power® Systems Announces Severe Duty Marine-Grade Alternators for Smaller Generators

Smart Power® Systems Announces Severe Duty Marine-Grade Alternators for Smaller Generators

Smart Power® Systems, a leading manufacturer of hydraulic generators, recently announced that its line of smaller generators (6.2, 8 and 10kW) are now equipped with severe duty marine-grade alternators. These new alternators are designed for the most demanding and robust applications, featuring oversized shaft bearings, P2-grade severe duty capacitors, cast iron end bells, and a marine-grade protective coating applied to the windings and stator.

The alternator oversized bearings provide reduced friction, increased efficiency and dramatically extended life in high vibration mobile applications. Capacitors are now P2-grade (explosion-proof) and constructed of industrial grade materials to far exceed the durability of standard-grade capacitors. Cast iron end bells are used in place of aluminum to secure the bearings, providing additional support strength and rigidity in high shock and vibration environments. The high-temperature thick enamel coating applied to the windings and stator provide a tough oil/water barrier that also protects alternator components from chemical and debris damage.
