Sheriff's deputies who pulled over an assistant fire marshal in East Texas for swerving allegedly found him watching porn on the county-owned vehicle's computer while drinking alcohol. Smith County deputies pulled over Oren Hale on Aug. 20, KLTV reports. The incident occurred about 9:20 p.m. on West Northwest Loop 323, near North Broadway Avenue, in Tyler, The Tyler Morning Telegraph reports.

A firefighter received the state’s Medal of Valor Monday for intervening in an assault on a colleague.
Alex Wallbrett came to the aid of coworker Ben Vernon June 24, 2015. The crew was treating a sick and drunk man in downtown San Diego, when a bystander began to stab Vernon repeatedly. The wounds left Vernon with a punctured lung and other injuries.

After two years of negotiations between the Clarkston Fire Department and the City of Clarkston, a new contract is finally in place.

Fire crews managed to contain the 230 Yard Fire Tuesday night, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The wildfire, which started on Sunday, burned a total of 208 acres, according to officials. The wildfire, located on the east side of the Columbia River near Elmer City and Grand Coulee, canceled school on Monday for Lake Roosevelt High School.

A spectacular log fire at a Parker mulch manufacturing facility Tuesday is predicted to continue burning until Friday.
Four log stacks about 100 feet long and three stories tall began burning about 3 p.m., sending flames leaping 30 feet high and creating a black column of smoke visible in downtown Yakima.
