The damage of Friday’s fire in downtown Bothell is being realized as the smoke clears in the city. Fire officials with the city believe the number of businesses destroyed or damaged to now be at 20. It’s a devastating blow to the city’s Main Street, but business owners say it is not the end.
“Can I get anything else for ya’ right now,” asked Neville Redman to a customer.

A massive three-alarm fire ripped through historic downtown Bothell on Friday morning, gutting one building after another and sending huge flames billowing into the darkened sky that could be seen for miles.
By mid-morning, firefighters were still battling the blaze as it flared up repeatedly and threatened more structures.

Every morning before dawn, Rick Robinson checks the laptop that’s mounted inside his Everett Fire Department rig. The software on the laptop is supposed to show the current location of every city fire truck and ambulance.
A few months ago, it wasn’t working so well. Emergency rigs were missing from the screen.

Bryan Brice will be the city’s new fire chief, according to a news release from the mayor’s office.
Brice, who will start Aug. 8, is coming from Oxnard, California, where he was chief of an eight-station fire department. Before that, he was a division chief with the Orange County Fire Authority, where he worked for 26 years.
