Firefighters rescue two residents from burning Federal Way apartment

Nobody was seriously injured in a Tuesday night apartment fire in Federal Way, but firefighters did have to rescue two residents trapped in a third floor apartment. Dispatchers began getting 911 calls at about 9:15 p.m. about a fire at the Crosspoint Apartments in the 35800 block 16th Ave South in Federal Way.

Voters approve Quilcene emergency medical services levy by wide margin

An emergency medical services levy was approved tonight for the Quilcene Fire Department. Passage will allow the department to provide continuous fire protection, advocates have said. The six-year levy, which needed only 50 percent plus one vote for approval, won by 559, or 75.03 percent, to 186, or 24.

Dubai Eyes New Record for World's Fastest 'Fire Apparatus'

Dubai’s Civil Defence have begun registering their specially-modified 2016 Corvette Stingray into the Guinness World Record as the fastest firetruck in the world.
In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Hussain Al Rahoomi, Head of Station Affairs Department at Dubai Civil Defense, said that the vehicle had been modified by experts to reach a staggering speed of up to 340 km/h.

The car was also equipped with fire extinguishers and first-aid equipment, in addition to various monitoring features and devices.

“The Guinness World Records’ administration have confirmed that there is no registered fire truck that with the same specifications as ours,” said Lt Col Al Rahoomi.

He explained that Civil Defence currently own two cars, but intend to purchase two more later in the year, adding that each car is worth approximately half a million dirhams – without the installed equipment.
