Flags are flying at half staff in Brookfield this week to honor Marcia Rosecky, a paramedic and the city's first female firefighter.
Rosecky died Saturday after a long battle with leukemia. She was 41.
"She was an amazing person," Brookfield Fire Chief Charlie Myers said Wednesday.
"She set the example for all the others.

A Lincoln Fire and Rescue captain has sued the city and the fire department's top brass alleging they retaliated against him for reporting harassment of recruits in 2011 and that he continues to get passed up for promotions because of it. Ed Widdis will be stepping down as fire chief of Snohomish County Fire District 1 effective March 8. He made the announcement during Tuesday night’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
Widdis last year announced his plans to retire at the end of 2016, but said medical issues prompted him to move up that date.
