Three firefighters fall into burning Spokane basement

Three firefighters fell through the floor of a burning North Spokane home on Monday near August and Addision. Firefighters said nobody was hurt in the accident, but radio issues played a part in their fall. Leaders on the scene explained that firefighters arrived and immediately discovered the hole in the first floor.

Fire District 1, Lynnwood partnering to expand community paramedic service in S. Snohomish County

Snohomish County Fire District 1 and the Lynnwood Fire Department are teaming up to expand community paramedic service in South Snohomish County that will serve all communities served by Fire District 1 including Edmonds. The Verdant Health Commission is providing a grant of more than $1 million to fund the regional program for the next three years.

Yakama Nation seeks more than $65 million in fire damages

The Yakama Nation is seeking $65.5 million in damages from the Klickitat Public Utility District for a 2013 wildfire that burned almost 20,000 acres of tribal timber land near Satus Pass. The state blames the utility for the fire, saying its power lines ignited a tree. But the PUD disputes that conclusion and is asking a federal court to dismiss the claim, which was filed on behalf of the tribe by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
