Winter is just about here and that means most of us are cranking up our heaters trying to keep warm through the months ahead, but as we found out on Monday the Yakima Fire Department says they're seeing a rise in carbon monoxide exposure. Our local hospitals have seen a rise over the past couple of weeks with several patients coming in with flu like symptoms that have turned out to be carbon monoxide poisoning.

Richfield City (UT) Fire Apparatus Readied for Service

Richfield City's truck represents a $620,000 investment in the community. The vehicle was purchased using a 50/50 grant/loan package from the Utah Permanent Community Impact Fund Board. The CIB funding package was approved in October 2014.

Once it's in service, the new fire engine will become Richfield City's, as well as Sevier County's, primary fire response vehicle.

The new trucks features include a front sprayer, a 1,000 gallon water system and other assets on the truck will help enhance the department's abilities to respond to fires and other emergencies.

The price tag for the vehicle also includes new extrication equipment for automobile accidents.

The truck that is currently used as the primary response vehicle is approximately 20 years old.

Pierce Manufacturing -- a company that has been building fire response equipment since 1917 -- assembled the new vehicle based on specifications provided by local firefighters. The custom construction took nearly a year to complete.

Volunteer firefighters traveled to Pierce's plant in Appleton, Wis., and drove the new truck back to its home in Richfield.
