Flames swept through an auto shop in Woodland early Tuesday morning, destroying the vehicles that were inside the building. Fire crews arrived to find fire coming from the commercial building. Law enforcement is investigating an SUV fire that burned the body inside, just behind a Richland neighborhood. There is not a lot of information at this time. Shortly after 1 p.m. neighbors in the area near of Rand Drive called and reported an SUV on fire and that a body may be inside. When firefighters got to the scene, they discovered there in fact was a body burned inside as a result of that fire.

All of Yakima County is getting closer to being able to get alerts in times of an emergency. The city of Yakima and the county have worked out a mass notification system where they'd be able to text or email people in emergencies. It would work with people signing up and also through cell phone towers.
