Grant Co. dam explosion hospitalizes six

Investigators are on scene at the Priest Rapids Dam in Grant County after an explosion happened Thursday around 4:00 p.m. According to Kyle Foreman of the Grant County Sheriff's Office, five employees were injured in the explosion. By 6:10 p.m. the number of reported injured had increased to six. All of the patients were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for burn injuries.

Spokane Fire Department responds to apartment building

The Spokane Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire that happened near Maple Street and Maxwell Avenue Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Maple Street and Maxwell are blocked off and officials said it may be that way for a while. Officials said a preliminary investigation showed the fire began in an apartment where no one was home.

Hoquiam Fire Officials: Family escaped fire with dog's help

Fire officials in Hoquiam say a family was able to escape a burning home early Wednesday because a dog barked and alerted them to the fire. Hoquiam Fire Capt. Tim Smith tells KBKW Radio that the dog woke the family before smoke filled their East Hoquiam home. He says the home's fire alarm went off only after firefighters had arrived on scene around 3 a.
