Pope Francis is visiting the National Sept. 11 Memorial at ground zero.
To a cheer from the gathered crowd, he walked toward the two massive waterfall pools that mark the footprints of the World Trade Center's twin towers before they were felled by the 2001 terrorist attacks. Francis visited the site after a speech at the United Nations.

A 44-year-old man was charged Thursday in Franklin County Superior Court with allegedly starting two fires in Pasco, including one that damaged a grocery store.
Abel Yanez Contreras has a hearing scheduled Sept. 29 on one count each of second-degree arson, a felony, and second-degree reckless burning, a gross misdemeanor.

A man who allegedly set fire to several vehicles Monday night, including a Seattle police car, was charged Thursday with first degree arson.
The incident unfolded just after 8:30 p.m. Monday after officers responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 2500 block of 24th Avenue West, said Lauren Lovanhill of the Seattle police.
