Pasco man charged with setting fire to market, fence

A 44-year-old man was charged Thursday in Franklin County Superior Court with allegedly starting two fires in Pasco, including one that damaged a grocery store. Abel Yanez Contreras has a hearing scheduled Sept. 29 on one count each of second-degree arson, a felony, and second-degree reckless burning, a gross misdemeanor.

Seattle Prosecutors: Accused arsonist has 20 felony convictions

A man who allegedly set fire to several vehicles Monday night, including a Seattle police car, was charged Thursday with first degree arson. The incident unfolded just after 8:30 p.m. Monday after officers responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 2500 block of 24th Avenue West, said Lauren Lovanhill of the Seattle police.

Update: Tour vehicle, charter bus collide on Seattle bridge; 4 dead

A "duck boat" tour vehicle and a charter bus carrying foreign college students collided on a busy Seattle bridge Thursday, killing four people and sending dozens to hospitals. The collision happened on the Aurora Avenue Bridge, which carries one of the city's main north-south highways over a lake. At least 12 people were in critical condition, and many others suffered lesser injuries, Fire Chief Harold Scoggins said.
