Blaze burns trailer east of Port Angeles

A travel trailer was destroyed in a fire Tuesday night, a Clallam County Fire District No. 3 official said. The fire was reported at 10:16 p.m. at 140 Erving Jacobs Road, which is off O’Brien Road southeast of Port Angeles. No one was injured, and no structures were damaged, said District Assistant Chief Roger Moeder.

Pernett sworn in as North Whatcom Fire and Rescue fire chief

North Whatcom Fire and Rescue (NWFR) has a new fire chief. William Pernett, who served as interim fire chief for three months after former chief Ron Anderson resigned, was officially sworn in during the NWFR fire commissioner’s meeting on September 17. Pernett and his family transferred to Whatcom County from Tucson, Arizona in 2014, when Pernett was hired as division chief of operations.

2 killed, dozens hurt as 'Duck' vehicle, bus collide on Aurora Bridge in Seattle

Two people were killed and dozens were injured when a "Ride the Ducks" vehicle plowed into the side of a BellAir tour bus Wednesday on the Aurora Bridge, officials said. Nine of the injured were reported to be in critical condition. All lanes of the bridge were closed by the crash and are expected to remain closed for hours.
